At the 2016 Chicago meeting of International Catholic Reform Network (www.icrn.info), the working group for women’s equality in the Church proposed that a new round of listening sessions with a focus on women’s equality in the Church be implemented.
For many women, the parish has not been a safe space to express their needs, disappointments, and aspirations. For the Church to heal and move forward, we need to hear the authentic voices of all its members, including women. And in the case of younger Catholic women, it is imperative that we listen anew.
Listening to Women will create the space for women’s voices to be received and counted.
Surveys will facilitate our ability to gather the critical information from the listening sessions, which we will then share with the bishops and others working for the full inclusion and participation of women in the Church.
